The Soft Enamel Pin Process
Soft enamel pins are die struck, leaving raised and recessed areas in the design. Enamel paint in a variety of PMS and Pantone colors fills in the recessed areas. Then, it is air dried which causes the enamel to settle a bit, giving the pin almost a 3D look to it.
Each colored area is surrounded by a thin metal line which holds the enamel in place.
They are very similar to our hard enamel pins with the raised metal lines. But unlike a hard enamel pin, you can feel the raised lines if you gently rub a thumb or finger on the pin.
